In this online Be You event, you will learn how to:
- Recognise trauma responses in children and young people that may appear in the school setting
- Apply a four-part framework to support children and young people to recover and thrive, including:
- Embedding trauma-informed practice in your everyday practice as an educator
- Carefully observing children and young people by staying alert to any changes they are displaying
- Activating support for children or young people who may need additional professional support
- Looking after your own wellbeing as an educator
- Draw on Be You resources to support a whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing
How to respond to self-harm in school settings

Self-harm among school students is a complex and troubling issue. By fostering a supportive and safe environment, schools can play an important role in identifying children and young people who may be self-harming and supporting them to seek help.
In this online and interactive event, designed for classroom teachers, you will learn how to:
- Identify signs that may suggest a child or young person is self-harming
- Develop a deeper understanding of the underlying reasons that may lead a child or young person to engage in self-harm
- Apply the Notice, Inquire and Provide framework to support a child or young person who may be self-harming
- Connect the child or young person with the right support, while protecting your own wellbeing
